OBL is rumored to have an internet message in the making, which is addressed to the Muslim terrorists in Somalia and Iraq.
He also released an audiotape yesterday that praises Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The tape premiered on the internet; OBL sounded tired and avoided showing his face.
The message was about 19 minutes long installment in the recent string of al-Qaida propaganda, signed by As-Sahab, and included an obviously old picture of OBL.
From the AP:
In the audiotape, bin Laden poured praise on al-Zarqawi in rhymed couplets traditional to Islamic poetry, calling him a "lion of Islam" who was "not just an honor to his tribe, his country and his Islamic nation, but to all mankind."
The audiotape narration was part of a 19-minute video showing old footage of al-Zarqawi, in a split screen with an old photo of bin Laden. U.S. Intelligence officials believe it is bin Laden's voice, said a counterterrorism official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
OBL went on to demand that President Bush release Zarqawi's body for burial by his family in Jordan, which Amman has publicly said they will not allow.OBL did not make mention of the Shiite Muslims in Iraq, and made no mention whatsoever of al-Zaqawi's successor, instead saying, "The banner has not fallen, it has only been passed from one lion to another."
This has caused speculation among experts if OBL is kept abreast of news.
"He doesn't appear to even know al-Zarqawi's successor," Diaa Rashwan, an Egyptian expert on militant groups said. Al-Qaida in Iraq has named a little known militant as its new leader, with the pseudonym of Abu Hamza al-Muhajer.
OBL went on to threaten the United States in a statement pointed at President Bush.
"We will continue to fight you and your allies everywhere, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan to run down your resources and kill your men until you return defeated to your nation."
It seems that Murtha and his ilk are playing right into OBL's hand, doesn't it?
