Reporting from Washington - Despite steep odds, the White House has discussed prospects for reviving a major overhaul of the nation's immigration laws, a commitment that President Obama has postponed once already.
Obama took up the issue privately with his staff Monday in a bid to advance a bill through Congress before lawmakers become too distracted by approaching midterm elections.
In the session, Obama and members of his Domestic Policy Council outlined ways to resuscitate the effort in a White House meeting with two senators -- Democrat Charles E. Schumer of New York and Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina -- who have spent months trying to craft a bill.
According to a person familiar with the meeting, the White House may ask Schumer and Graham to at least produce a blueprint that could be turned into legislative language.
The basis of a bill would include a path toward citizenship for the 10.8 million people living in the U.S. illegally. Citizenship would not be granted lightly, the White House said. Undocumented workers would need to register, pay taxes and pay a penalty for violating the law. Failure to comply might result in deportation.
This is exactly the same bullshit that the American people RESOUNDINGLY rejected not long ago, and yet Obama, knowing that the Congress is going to flip shortly, will ram this though and sit back for a couple of years, enjoying the White House parties and press adoration.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.
Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.
That's it, dammit. We ask these men to put their lives on the line and take out high value enemies alive, Obama's administration wants to discipline and tarnish these men over a fat lip?!?

Most trucks enrolled in the program pause at the border for just 20 seconds before entering the United States. And nine out of 10 of them do so without anyone looking at their cargo.
But among the small fraction of trucks that are inspected, authorities have found multiple loads of contraband, including 8 tons of marijuana seized during one week in April.
Some specialists now question whether the program makes sense at a time when drug traffickers are willing to do almost anything to smuggle their shipments into the United States.

But the victim says she is entitled to blind Majid Movahedi in only one eye, because under Iranian law "each man is worth two women."
She also says he would be blinded by having several drops of acid put into one eye, whereas she had acid splashed all over her face and other parts of her body.
She says she's waiting for a letter from the court telling her to go back to Iran for the punishment to be carried out.

Women who worked on Obama’s Senate staff last year, however, were themselves paid on average 78 cents for every dollar a man was paid, according to data last year from the Report of the Secretary of the Senate.
Environmentalist wackos who tried to prevent the Navy from using sonar have failed:
The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that military training trumps protecting whales in a dispute over the Navy's use of sonar in submarine-hunting exercises off the coast of southern California.
Writing for the majority in the court's first decision of the term, Chief Justice John Roberts said the most serious possible injury to environmental groups would be harm to an unknown number of the marine mammals the groups study.
"In contrast, forcing the Navy to deploy an inadequately trained anti-submarine force jeopardizes the safety of the fleet," the chief justice wrote. He said the overall public interest tips strongly in favor of the Navy.
The Natural Resources Defense Council and other environmental organizations had sued the Navy, winning restrictions in lower federal courts on sonar use.
Dolphins, whales and sea lions are among the 37 species of marine mammals in the area.
The Bush administration argued that there is little evidence of harm to marine life in more than 40 years of exercises.
Joining Roberts' opinion were Justices Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.
The court did not deal with the merits of the claims put forward by the environmental groups. It said, rather, that federal courts abused their discretion by ordering the Navy to limit sonar use in some cases and to turn it off altogether in others.
The scary thing is, this is effectively another 5-4 decision, just as with the Second Amendment. With four judges in the majority, two dissenting and two not joining either side, we just barely kept our Navy's ability to effectively defend our nation.

The full 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati upheld a lower court's ruling that Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner must use other government records to check the thousands of new voters for registration fraud...Ohio Republicans sued Brunner, a Democrat.
"Her delay in providing this matching system leaves little time for election officials to act on questionable registrations," Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Bennett said Tuesday night. "Once again, Jennifer Brunner has wasted valuable taxpayer dollars only to have her partisan agenda rejected by a court of law. Her shameful actions to disenfranchise Republican absentee voters, block the transparency of early voting and refuse the proper verification of newly registered voters have rightfully damaged her credibility as a nonpartisan election administrator. She is destroying the public trust in Ohio's elections system." [...]
Brunner argued that it would take two to three days to create the necessary computer programs, and that nothing in the Help America Vote Act required her to do what the district court ordered.
Tuesday's order directs Brunner to verify new registrations by comparing information on them with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles or the Social Security Administration.

CLEVELAND - A man at the center of a voter-registration scandal told The Post yesterday he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times, in apparent violation of Ohio laws.
"Sometimes, they come up and bribe me with a cigarette, or they'll give me a dollar to sign up," said Freddie Johnson, 19, who filled out 72 separate voter-registration cards over an 18-month period at the behest of the left-leaning Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
"The ACORN people are everywhere, looking to sign people up. I tell them I am already registered. The girl said, 'You are?' I say, 'Yup,' and then they say, 'Can you just sign up again?' " he said.
Johnson used the same information on all of his registration cards, and officials say they usually catch and toss out duplicate registrations. But the practice sparks fear that some multiple registrants could provide different information and vote more than once by absentee ballot.

It is a cooperative of followers of (anarchist) Saul Alinsky, busily implementing the so-called “The Cloward-Piven Strategy of Orchestrated Crisis.” According to The Nation magazine (1966), “The ‘Cloward-Piven Strategy’ seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.”

We can say that he is able to quote Marxist and anarchist rhetoric, but lacks a concomitant real world understanding of the implications of such radical ideas. But there is yet another possibility: Barack Obama knows exactly what he is doing. He knows precisely where he wants to take this country. And no one who understands this man’s motivations can feel comfortable with that perspective.
Barack Obama’s radicalism, thinly disguised by his subtle move to the political center-left, clearly repudiates everything America stands for. Conservative Americans may find themselves baffled by a man who professes love for the United States, but who then seeks to institute radical Marxist changes in government, in our courts, and within society … but not if we are watching and listening carefully to the Obama rhetoric. If we have not already dismissed common sense concern for his radicalism, if we have not already accepted Obama’s mild protestations of innocence, then we can recall the words of Jeremiah Wright on the pulpit (“g-damn America”) and we can say, “There is the real Barack Obama.” If we can focus on the obvious, we can draw a direct line between Jeremiah Wright’s church and the Black Racist ideology of the Nation of Islam and its leader, Louis Farrakhan – both of whom engage in the radicalization of the black community, then we know the real man behind the deceptively “empty suit.” The underlying, important question is, “Are Americans Paying Attention?”
By pursuing his radical, anti-American agenda, Barack Obama repudiates everything America stands for … and his rejection of our traditional values extends well beyond the sophomoric debate between capitalists and socialists, even if not altogether irrelevant. The United States is a great nation today because of our traditional values. Our forefathers rejected big government, and they were able to raise their families without having to rely on the mistaken notion that “Only a village can raise a child.” They avoided personal indebtedness, preferring to live within their means, and they denounced the idea that government is entitled to their hard-earned income. In the past, we celebrated entrepreneurial spirit; today we demean it. Today, encouraged by the poison of materialism and socialist entitlement programs, America is a nation of debtors; ever the opportunist, Barack Obama and his radical left organization is taking full advantage of our social and individual indolence.
Let us not forget that government largess feeds upon itself. Marxists use government to redistribute wealth; it is the great equalizer ensuring everyone is equally miserable. Obama is using Alinsky’s “community activism” to achieve that power, and socialist ideology to maintain it. We stand in opposition to Barack Obama and his machine politics because we reject Marxist/socialist government. It strips people of their individualism, their dignity, and their will to resist subjugation, but this is the goal of an Obama administration, gift wrapped with empty promises. In our view, Barack Obama is willing to do anything to achieve his objectives, legal or not. We categorically reject him as a new-age messiah, and we stand united against his anti-American programs and policies.
Our question to Obama supporters remains unanswered: “How is it possible to love America, and support Barack Obama?” The horror of radical left/Marxist ideology is Obama’s consistent and unfettered promise for America. It is why we oppose him. It is why we urge our readers to vote NO to Obama and NO to socialists in Congress.

One large group of network affiliates, the Sinclair Broadcast Group — which aired an documentary attacking John Kerry in 2004 — has been running the ads, Obama aides said. The campaign has launched a special effort to pressure Sinclair.
“Obama supporters have now sent more than 93,000 e-mails to the Sinclair stations that have decided to run the ad,” said Obama’s spokesman Tommy Vietor. “Other stations that follow Sinclair’s lead should expect a similar response from people who don’t want the political discourse cheapened with these false, negative attacks.”

It won't illuminate North Korea's suspected program of developing weapons fueled by enriched uranium. As a result of the six-nation nuclear talks, the North has stopped making plutonium and begun disabling its nuclear facilities, but it still has a stockpile of radioactive material that experts believe is enough to build from six to 10 bombs.
Well, they'll only have six to ten? What could go wrong?
The North proved it could build a working nuclear bomb when it carried out an underground nuclear test blast in October 2006. Details on the bombs, however, will be left to the next stage of the talks, when Pyongyang is supposed to abandon all its nuclear weapons programs.
I'm sure they'll give up their program. Kimmie has never, ever gone back on his word before. He's SO honorable, after all.
North Korea's declaration also won't give a complete accounting of how
it allegedly helped Syria build what senior U.S. intelligence officials say was a secret nuclear reactor meant to make plutonium, which can be used to make high-yield nuclear weapons. Israeli jets bombed the structure in the remote eastern desert of Syria in September 2007.
Oh. Well, I'm sure they just think that little Syrian nuclear plant thing was no big deal. Yeah.

Philosophers Peter Singer and Paola Cavalieri founded the Great Ape Project in 1993, arguing that "non-human hominids" like chimpanzees, gorillas, orang-utans and bonobos should enjoy the right to life, freedom and not to be tortured.
First of all, I don't know anyone who isn't insane that would torture an ape. Someone like that should be put down, because they're going to start torturing people eventually.
Secondly, isn't Peter Singer the asshole that said that parents should be allowed to abort babies up until their second birthday, because they don't yet have a grasp on the concept of the future and therefore aren't a full human yet?
I don't think apes have a grasp on the future, asshole. Maybe we should just kill them all. I don't think they have "rationality, autonomy, and self-consciousness." Therefore, "simply killing an [ape] is never equivalent to killing a person."
And finally, speaking of assholes who have a psychotic need to destroy children, we have the Supreme Court rejecting the death penalty for child rapists, particularly a rapist from Louisiana who so badly injured an eight-year-old girl that a surgeon had to be called in to repair her genitals.

But that's not the worst of it; a month ago we have a lawyer from Assachussetts vowing to "rip apart" child rape victims on the stand... You know, because being traumatically violated by a pedophile just wasn't bad enough.
Rep. James Fagan, a Democrat, made the comments during debate last month on the state House floor.
"I'm gonna rip them apart," Fagan said of young victims during his testimony on the bill. "I'm going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined, that when they’re 8 years old, they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.”
Fagan said as a defense attorney it would be his duty to do that in order to keep his clients free from a "mandatory sentence of those draconian proportions."
No, asshole. Your duty as a defense attorney is to provide a adequate, vigorous defense of your client, NOT to torture eight-year-olds on the stand. If evidence says your client is not guilty, then he won't be subject to "those draconian" punishments that frankly aren't nearly horrible enough for a child rapist.
This creature should be disbarred, tarred and feathered and run out of the House on a rail!

According to the ban, a citizen may not own a handgun at all, and may only have a rifle or shotgun if it is unloaded, dismantled and/or locked.

Frankly, I find it fascinating that the authorities claim they don't want guns to cut down on crime. D.C. is one of the most crime-ridden cities in the U.S., so that clearly hasn't worked.

DC city council argues than the ban is justified because "handguns have no legitimate use in the purely urban environment of the District of Columbia".

The bottom line is, at best these gun bans come from nanny, Code Pink, hippie types who think that if we just all hold hands and "give peace a chance," somehow all the predators out there will loose their will to attack.
At worst, it is the power-hungry politicians who want to regulate every aspect of our lives, make us dependent on them and fear our ability to defend our homes from them. Only by making us helpless will they be able to run amok unchallenged.
Let's pray that the Supreme Court does not set a precedent for that scenario!
It's nice to see that Obama and the Dems are still taking their talking points from Iran. No matter how crazy the world gets, I always know what I can expect from the left.
BAGHDAD- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday lashed out at the United States during an unprecedented trip to Iraq and demanded that major powers leave the region.
Sounds a lot like the Obamanation, huh?
The hardline Iranian leader also dismissed U.S. allegations that Iran was funding and training extremists in Iraq, a fellow Shiite majority country.
Of course they aren't. Iran would never do anything like that...
Ahmadinejad, the first Iranian president to visit Iraq, said the foreign presence in the Arab country was an "insult to the regional nations and a humiliation."
"We believe that the major powers who have come to the region from thousands of kilometers away should respect the will of nations and leave this region. That's the best service they can offer these nations," Ahmadinejad said after meeting with Iraq's president on the two-day trip.
Yes. That would make it much easier for Dinny to supply terrorists, take over Iraq and continue his nuclear arms program without us over there, looking over his shoulder.
And what does President Bush have to say about this?
WASHINGTON - President Bush on Saturday urged Congress to pass legislation aimed at ending illegal sales of highly addictive prescription drugs on the Internet, citing a growing number of fatal overdoses.
"Unfortunately, many young Americans do not understand how dangerous abusing medication can be, and in recent years, the number of Americans who have died from prescription drug overdoses has increased," Bush said.
Hey, Prez, news flash: DRUG ADDICTS KNOW THAT THEY ARE ABUSING DRUGS. THEY DON'T CARE; THEY ARE SELFISH.
"The Internet has brought about tremendous benefits for those who cannot easily get to a pharmacy in person," Bush said. "However, it has also created an opportunity for unscrupulous doctors and pharmacists to profit from addiction."
So gawd forbid we punish those who are doing things illegally. Instead, let's create more nanny-state rules that punish us all. People who want to abuse drugs are going to do it regardless of any laws the government creates to prevent it.
After all, we citizen children just couldn't get by without Daddy Gubmit taking care of us all.
