Political Stupidity Roundup Post:

Another honest mistake on the heels of the Geitner scandal? What are the odds?

WASHINGTON Tom Daschle apologized Monday to the Senate panel that will decide whether he becomes Health and Human Services secretary, saying he was "deeply embarrassed and disappointed" about his failure to pay more than $120,000 in taxes.

Nice. I'm going to claim to be a Democrat and just stop paying my taxes. Why not?

These hypocrites think they're too damned important to have to follow the laws they impose upon us.  They rob us blind and laugh about it until they get caught. Then, its a few "Oops, sorry about thats" and it's back to business as usual.

Next on the roundup is a bit of global warming lunacy:

COUPLES who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment, the government’s (England) green adviser has warned.

Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission, says curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population.

A report by the commission, to be published next month, will say that governments must reduce population growth through better family planning.

Oh, really? Do you mean the kind of state enforced 'family planning' that China employs? If a woman gets pregnant a third time, will she be forced to have an abortion, and then be sterilized while strapped to a table?

Porritt, a former chairman of the Green party, says the government must improve family planning, even if it means shifting money from curing illness to increasing contraception and abortion.

Bullshit to English: The disabled and the elderly will go untreated and die while abortions are freely given.

I wonder if the Muslim population in England would go for this sort of thing? I'd be willing to bet that they'd get an exception for 'religious and cultural' reasons.

Finally, another example of "do as I say and not as I do" from The One:

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama, keeping a campaign pledge, signed a law Thursday to make it easier to sue employers for pay discrimination.

In a ceremony in the East Room of the White House flanked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden, Obama spoke as Lilly Ledbetter – a former Goodyear Tire manager from Alabama, whose case inspired the new law – stood beside him.

“While this bill bears her name, Lilly knows this story isn’t just about her,” Obama said. “It is a story of women across this country still earning just 78 cents for every $1 men earn, women of color even less, which means that today in the year 2009, countless women are still losing thousands of dollars in salary, income, and retirement savings over the course of a lifetime.”

Women who worked on Obama’s Senate staff last year, however, were themselves paid on average 78 cents for every dollar a man was paid, according to data last year from the Report of the Secretary of the Senate.

Another "honest mistake," I'm sure...
