Earth Hour 2010

Tonight at 20:30, Earth Hour begins. The idea is that we turn off all of the lights and the appliances and sit around in the dark for 60 minutes.

In honor of the science being settled and such, I have decided to engage in global disobedience and turn on every single electrical thing, all the lights at full, start a fire in the backyard and burn multiple packages of styrofoam plates and cups.

Even with all of this, I doubt I could come anywhere near Al Gore's "carbon footprint."

Kiss my posterior, hippies. I'll see you in ten years when we'll be fearing another ice age.

This some reminds me of the TV special on History Channel: Earth Without People.

My question: Who gives a scrap?

I wonder if the people up North in below freezing weathe are going to participate in "Earth Hour" by turning off their heat...

I didn't partake in this, and for good reason.

Seems the power plants view the grid, and if they see sudden lowering of power consumption, they lower the output on the grid - and when it suddenly comes back on again there's a sudden increase in demand, which might cause a brownout if enough people do this.

I missed the announcement.

Not that I'd have done this crap anyway.

Let's see, at the time last night, the microwave and the clothes dryer were humming. Half the lights in the house were on.

Mustang: It's all BS.

Krystal: Only if they really want to be 'green'... and stupid. Of course, that's a bit redundant, isn't it?

Steve: Ah, logic. Something the greenies do not participate in.

AOW: DO YOUR PART! Turn them ALL on! :)

Just yesterday, I got a coupon in the mail for a free 6 pack of twisty-bulbs, brought to me by Wal-Mart and GE.

*sigh*
