How Not to Kill a Spider

I hate, hate, hate spiders. I really do. I was going to put up a picture of a spider with this post, but when I Googled for images, I just couldn't take it.

So when I found this story about a man setting his house on fire to kill a spider, it seemed totally reasonable to me:

PORTSMOUTH, England, April 27 (UPI) -- British firefighters say a man set fire to the front of his house trying to kill a spider with a lighter.

Firefighters said they arrived at the Portsmouth, England, home and found the man attempting to put out the flames with a garden hose, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

"The whole thing had clearly scared the life out of him," watch manager Steve Pearce said of the man. "There was a gap in the cladding where he was trying to kill the spider and so the sparks got through to the material behind and started spreading upward toward the roof."

Pearce said firefighters spent about two hours extinguishing the blaze.

"Surprisingly there wasn't much damage to the house other than to the cladding," he said. "We obviously had a chat with the man but I don't think he'll be doing this again."

Delusional? Yeah.

'The Truth' by Painter Michael D'Antuono which will be unveiled on President Obama's 100th Day in Office at NYC's Union Square.

Don't worry, folks. The One will save us from the economy by printing money like mad and he'll save us from the swine flu in Mexico by leaving the borders wide open!

Another day, another miracle, after all.

I rather like unveiling this for Obama's 100th day.

Honestly, if Obama didn't have such an enormous ego, you'd think he would come out and make a statement against this kind of crap.

Incidentally, isn't it amazing that Christians aren't out rioting and beheading over this?

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day, and in honor of the occasion I plan on building a large fire in my backyard using styrofoam for kindling, and perhaps throwing on a tire.

Then, I plan on letting the kids each break their own 'green' light bulb and watching them throw it straight into the trash.

Hey, those things have 'green' mercury in them... ;)

Oh, and I think I'll leave the lights on all day and night, too. Maybe I'll open the fridge door and leave it open, and run the oven at 450 all day even though I'm not cooking anything.

Today is gonna be fun.

Monday Morning: How Many Ways Will the Gov't Screw Up This Week?

I couldn't pass this cartoon up:

Considering how many thugs and dictators President Obama has met with lately, I think he should be the one on a watch list.

I wonder if Obama will be learning Spanish in order to read the book Chavez gave him...

He certainly doesn't need to speak Spanish to understand the multiple times Huge-o has insulted this country, though. Just a cursory Google search should do... But to hell with that. Let's pall around with our enemies, anyway.

Hi, All!

Hi everybody.

Sorry I haven't been reading or posting much lately. Work has been crazy with the Easter holiday, and I've had a cold with a nasty cough for the last week and a half or so.

After I got to work for a couple hours yesterday, I started coughing more and getting short of breath just trying to lift cases of soda or whatever.

My boss looked a bit concerned and sent me home, and when I started to run a fever I figured I just couldn't kick this bug on my own, so I went to the doctor's...

Turns out I wound up getting a breathing treatment, a chest x-ray, an inhaler for home, anitbiotics and a prescription expectorant.

The doc suspects I have a bad case of bronchitis or a possible pneumonia... That's a bummer because I just took the pneumovac a couple of months ago!

Anyway, I find out Thursday, but since I'm now on a 'medical vacation' for a few days, I plan on doing a bit of catching up.

See 'ya around!

Easter

I hope all of you are having a reflective Easter.

I haven't been able to post much lately, or do any reading in the blogosphere. It's been a week and a half since my last day off, and I won't see the next one until this Wednesday.

Not only that, brother was given orders to report to Maryland for his next duty station, and his pregnant wife will be going with him, of course... But she cannot take her one-year-old female cat with them.

I agreed to watch the cat.

We soon found out that she is unaltered.

After spending just a day and a half with our (definitely neutered) male cat, Jack, she went into heat. Despite being a very sweet cat, she has been miserable from that point. Jack is starting to 'take notice' of her despite being unable to 'deliver', so to speak, so we've kept her in the bedroom and him in the living room/kitchen.

This cat must be spayed, and I was certainly not expecting to take on that expense right now.

*sigh*

Busy days, folks. :)

Obama: Carter Redux.

Are you kidding me?!?

Obama can't be bothered to so much as comment on an AMERICAN CITIZEN taken hostage by Muslim pirates?

Does America no longer afford her protection to every one of her citizens?

Who exactly is Obama afraid of offending... Muslim pirates?

And why exactly are we sending FBI hostage negotiators to deal with four Muslim terrorists on a dingy.

Here's my negotiating strategy:

Four bullets.

Obama Ridding World Of Nukes... Sing Kumbaya, Everyone!

Perhaps President Obama has been watching old B-grade Superman sequals:

That would explain this:

PRAGUE – Declaring it "matters to all people everywhere," President Barack Obama promised on Sunday to lead the world into a nuclear-free future, giving a hawkish edge to a peacenik pursuit even as North Korea upstaged him with the launch of a long-range rocket that theoretically could carry a warhead.

Obama made his pledge before 20,000 flag-waving Czechs outside the gates of picturesque Prague Castle. He chose a nation that peacefully threw off communism and helped topple nuclear power Soviet Unionas the backdrop for presenting an ambitious plan to stop the global spread of dangerous weapons.

"Let us honor our past by reaching for a better future," Obama said.

Shifting on an eight-day European trip from the economic crisis to the war in Afghanistan and now nuclear capabilities, Obama said his goal of "a world without nuclear weapons" won't be reached soon, "perhaps not in my lifetime."

But he said the United States, with one of the world's largest arsenals and the only nation to have used an atomic bomb, has a "moral responsibility" to start taking steps now.

Read the rest here.

This is pie-in-the-sky hippie nonsense. It is SO naive that I cannot believe Obama insulted a live audience over the age of three with this utopiatarien nonsense...

And the whole while the Norks are trying to figure out how to get a missile capable of carrying a warhead.

Just as with guns, Mr. President, when you get rid of nuclear weapons held by responsible, law-abiding countries, only rogue criminal nations will have them.

NOT an April Fool's Joke

Finally, Obama has a meeting with a foreign figurehead and did not do any damage, or say anything stupid...

...But that's only because it was Wax Obama.

I wonder if Madame Tussads could do us a solid and return this Obama to the U.S. instead?
