I hope all of my blogging friends are having a wonderful Thanksgiving. The family will be gettin' together today, and much food and comradery will be had by all. Then, we're going to burn stuff in the firepit, just to make sure we do our part to contribute to global warming!
And of course, being the good friend that I am, here are a few tips to make your Thanksgiving go smoothly.

I couldn't listen to the whole thing..why's it so difficult for some people to actually understand that people DID have good table manners and DID act politely and DID dress nicely......and weren't gay and weren't doing drugs, etc etc......
Is it because it's hard to live up to?

Mike and the bots - I love em but isn't it something that we can poke fun at that which was once the norm in most American households? I remember growing up most of our neighborhood behaved this way.

Z, Gator: It is all in good fun. People still do have good manners. You better believe we do at MY Granny's table! And although we don't really dress up, you aren't allowed to show up looking like a slob, either.
I still remember when I was a teen and my older bro actually had the gall to try to come to the table with no shirt on after going outside on a hot day. My Dad schooled him pretty quickly!
As for cooking the turkey phaser-style, LOL!
If I'm not mistaken, the TNG and DS9 crews each did the rock-heating thing, too.

In what I think almost all Americans would call “odd,” President Barack Obama delivered his weekly address with a speech entitled: “On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country.”
In the text of his speech, he referred to Thanksgiving as a “celebration of community.”
Holy cow! Is that one screwed up view or what
Not only was the Thanksgiving address a celebration of "community" it was another change to play the political blame game. Infuriating. But then I realize that Mr. Obama simply does not have it in his heart to give a message of gratitude for the country. He does not see America as someplace special or where more people have prospered and experienced more personal liberty than any where else on earth.
Yes, we still have some poor and downtrodden here, but compare them with the average poor and downtrodden in India, Guatemala, Pakistan or any third world country of your choice. We are operating on entirely different standards.
Narcissists don't' understand gratitude because they have a sense of entitlement. It is a bit unrealistic to expect Mr. Obama to deliver a simple message of thankfulness to God or any deity he chooses. I expect nothing better for his Christmas address. He just does not have in his heart what it takes to express this kind of sentiment.
Really I feel sad for him. But if he is voted in again, then it is our fault and the nation will reap the reward of its choice.

I know. My kids laugh their heads off when we watch those MSTK3 shorts and I tell them "yes, life really was that way in the 50s"
I can remember when we had school assemblies and we had to watch films like this. We did our own MSTK3. Low voices of course, because the teachers patrolled the auditorium aisles.

LL: Thanks for visiting! I agree, Obama's view of many things that we 'bitter clingers' hold dear is unfathomable. In fact, here in Cincinnati one of the am radio guys excoriated Obama over that very address.
