Thanks, Obama!

Remember during the last campaign when Obama said that energy costs must skyrocket by necessity and that he would see that coal energy would be hobbled, and that he would cost coal companies bankrupting amounts of money to run a plant, thus crippling quite a few states?

Well, his EPA is making that a reality in Ohio, and it's surely only the beginning:

Duke Energy says they will be closing the W.C.Beckjord Station in New Richmond by January 1 of 2015. Duke Says that the 60-year-old plant has served many but the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to implement new environmental regulations that would require hundreds of millions of dollars to bring the plant into compliance.
Officials say they will continue operating all six coal-fired units at Beckjord until the anticipated 2015 closing date.
An estimated 120 employees work at the Beckjord Station. Duke Energy says that will work with the impacted workers and unions to determine other positions for employment.

Obama: Killing jobs for hardworking Ohioans and causing our energy costs to be even more impossible than what they are now.

Thanks, that's some awesome hope and change.

Most of the coal producing states voted for Obama.

One question.

How'd that work out for you?

The EPA is a tool of oppression.

We're being regulated into serfdom!

I'm soooooo glad we pay twice as much for energy under Obama than we did under Bush. After all, what could be better for the world than having ALL of America's vast wealth transferred to the Middle East and SOuth America so that dictators can experiment with Arab and "Bolivarian" Socialism. In the words of the GREAT Hugo Chavez, "Socialismo o Muerte!"

Chuck: How's Obama working out for ANYONE, other than his cronies?

We're all screwed to the wall.

AOW: Agreed!

FJ: Indeed.

I wonder how ol' Coca chew'in Chavez is doing under the tender mercies of Castro's doctors?

Angel: You, too!

Cube: That's putting it nicely...

There's no end to the control this president wants. He won't be happy until the American work force is flushed down the toilet

Starting up my blog again within the next few days Brooke.

I'm guessing the coal miners unions will still finance Obama's re-election campaign.

Brooke, don't you understand that to make an omelet you have to break a few eggs? Ohio unfortunately is just an egg in the "O" playbook. But at this rate, we'll all be eggs and all be broken.

What people don't know about this power plant, is it has been asked to upgrade emissions since 1994. There was a lawsuit because they made some upgrades without permits. They used bad quality materials and really made no working upgrades. It was owned by CGE at the time. Then they were owned by Cinergy who also did not update the plant. Now they are owned by Duke and the upgrades have to be made. This is a dirty and extremly polluting plant. I live next to it and hate to lose the tax money for our village and schools, but something has to give. If the prior companies had done there job, Beckjord might not be closing. The plant is 60 years old. My husband is a boilermaker, and like he said, "How long do people really expect these dianosours to run" My husband has been on two jobs this year building Clean Coal Fire Power plants. They are still using coal. Just better technology. By the way, just 10 miles to the east of me is Zimmer power plant. It is one of the highest watt(I guess that's how you say it) plants in the United States. Do you realize how much lead and mercury these plants emits. I know because my husband has told me how dangerous they are. We plan to move out of the Ohio Valley. It is just too polluted. I am not a liberal, my husband's work depends on power plants, even he said Beckjord could not be saved. Just want you to know the ARE building new Clean Fire Power Plants as we speak. No one has put a stop to coal. It is the cheapest power and will be used with new technology that has almost zero emissions. Thanks for listening, New Richmond OH....can see Beckjord from my window!

Jeff: Good to see you again!

Usually Ohio IS red. It is the big three C's (Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland) where all of the entitlement voters turn out to tip the balance.

We now have a GOP governor who is arguably worse for commerce and gun rights than the previous Democrat in office.

*sigh*

Beamish: Sadly, you are correct.

Gator: Yes, the whole carton is going to be dropped if Obama has his way.

NewRich: If the plant has to be revamped, it CANNOT because of the onerous conditions put upon the power companies. Remember Obama telling us that he would bankrupt power companies and that energy prices would skyrocket as a result?

And, if Obama is so serious about clean power, why does his administration continue to make it near impossible to build a nuclear plant? Hey, if France can do it, I know we can!

will there be ANY Private sector jobs by the time Obama's finished with America in 2016? ANY?

Fundamentally changing America, just like he said. And the idiots still went ahead and voted for the asshole.

Start making your exit contingency plans.
