I'm a Mac guy ... yup, I own a Mac and I'll never go back.

Me, too. Linux MAYBE, but never Windows.

I need a new computer..Mine's so slow I almost can't stand it and it's old. I don't know why I have an aversion to Apple; maybe I should get over it.
Also, I had NO idea that desktops aren't that readily available anymore and laptops are much more popular. WHO KNEW?

Nothing is more frustrating than a slow computer! Maybe you should just do some housecleaning and increase your memory?

I HATE PC. I am an Apple fan, but they are pricey, for certain.

I have a desktop and a tablet. I don't care for laptops much.

My father prefers Linux. He has a job that requires him to write code.

I'll just keep quietly working on my device prone to blue screen of death until I can score me a HAL 9000. Then no worries. At the moment cheap is easy.

@Z -- I have a Dell Inspiron Zino HD. Basically, it's a laptop in a box; no keyboard and no screen. It is eight inches on each side and 3.5 inches high. It has a a one TB HD, a CD/DVD reader/writer which is also a Blu-ray reader. Infra-red for use with a remote control. Four USB ports and one SD port. It has both a built in ethernet and wireless ethernet, too. 8GB of ram, 1GB of video ram with a killer ATI video chip built in. Standard analog video connector and an HDMI connector as well. With the wide-screen monitor it cost me $1300 two years ago.

To get a Mac with all that will cost you upwards of $2500 and they're not that much better. You can get free software like OpenOffice that will work on either platform so Windows has the same software offerings going for it.

And I haven't seen a BSOD in over 10 years. The last one was on a Windows 2000 computer that was forced on a Mac-only user. And I work in IT with businessess that use hundreds of thousands of Windows-based computers. Did see a few Sad Macs in that time, though.

One nice thing about Apple is that my kid's schools are outfitted with refurbished Macs the company donated. They've got some in each classroom and a pretty sweet media center!

I do like the fact that the schools get some good computers donated. I've always said, I don't care what kind of computer you buy, just buy one and get on-line. Make sure to buy the one that works for you.
