The Cone of Shame

Poor Fortune. That look she's giving the camera has pretty much been the look nonstop since Dave and I put the e-collar on her.

She went out in the yard and somehow managed to tear a quarter-sized chunk of skin off her chest. After two days of her incessant licking it was starting to look infected, so Dave held her head, I collared her up, cleaned the wound with peroxide and soap and put polysporin on it. Hopefully, she won't be able to lick it and it will heal with regular cleaning.

Ouch! Poor dog. Most dogs just won't leave wounds alone.

Sad dog. I hope it gets better soon!

USA: I fear we humans are just as bad when it comes to messing with a wound. :)

Keads: Thanks. You can't see the wound in the pic; the collar covers the view.

Just don't let other dogs see her, she will be mortified.

Dogs don't know it's for their own good...most likely thinks she "did" something.

Chuck: Kona ran in from outside and skidded to a halt in front of Fortune with a 'what the hell' kind of look!

Jeff: She is following me around with the attitude of a wet kitten. It doesn't help that she can't figure out that her head is wider now, so she's bumping into stuff... And then there's the slobber. I have to wipe out the cone from time to time!

I bet she can hear even better than before though. And those barks probably project very wall too.

I know that look. When our German Shepherd was spayed and had surgery on her back paw, we had to use one of those collars on her and she looked pathetic. The bigger the dog, the bigger the collar. She bumped into everything.

Gator: My husband said the same thing, LOL!

Cube: Fortune is now dedicating herself to trying to shake the cone off. I've had to take bread twist-ties and attach it to her 'regular' collar.

And she's *not* loving it.
