Outage

Thanks to my hubby's wonderful tech skills, I have internet after a couple of days outage.

I was out for a while, and I've got a 12 hour shift tomorrow, but Saturday I'll be out in force.

Damn Time Warner Cable!

I spent a half hour on the cell with them with no solution; hubby comes home and spend exactly 4 minutes to get me back online and gets the dead phone back on.

ARGH!

Nerds Unite

Sorry I haven't been around a lot this week, but that pesky job thing keeps getting in the way. I'm on my way to work right now, another 12 hours, but here's a quickie I just had to post about.

I'm sure most people that read this site are familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church freak jobs. They like to tell people how much God hates them and protest at fallen soldier's funerals.

Well, they've decided to protest Comic-Con, because apparently reading a comic book equals idol worship according to their version of the Bible.

But just like counter protest groups that keep Phelps and his freaks away from grieving soldier's families, the nerds are having none of their crap:

(See more pics here.)

I love this. Even when the Phelp's downgrade their game to comics and sci-fi, there are still people willing to not let them get away with their insanity.

Actually, it kind of reminds me of the cartoonifada. When Islamists went nuts over stick figures, where were the 'moderate' Muslims to protest?

Hitler Sees a Double Rainbow

By now some of you may have seen the double rainbow all the way video, in which some hipster freaks out over a perfectly explainable natural phenomenon, albeit a cool one.

Well, it turns out Hilter saw it, too:

Happy Birthday, Genna!

She's hit the big 0-5 today!

As much as I love her, she's so difficult sometimes. Genna is fierce, has to have the last word and won't hesitate to fight, especially if it involves doing something she doesn't want to. She'll fight anyone. If she ever learns to control her temper, she'll be able to do whatever she wants with her life and no one will be able to stop her.

But it seems today I am the object of her contestation, and we haven't even had the cake yet.

So despite the birthday, it's shaping up to be one of those days:

And after you've had your bowl of whiskey, you can enjoy this:

Also, this.

BTW, bow ties are cool. Confirmed.

What NBC and CBS Won't Let You See:

Free speech for some?

Of course. Mustn't offend Islam.

For the CUBE.

Non-political post of the day.

OK, so a Tardis isn't exactly a cube, but it is a box with a bunch of right angles...

You've GOT to catch up with this! The whole season is VERY well written. You can re-watch episodes and find stuff you've missed that fits in later. Plus, I really like this Doc. He's way better than the 10th, in my estimation.

Brilliant:

Get Your Sliders... While You Still Can

This is it, dammit. I hate Obama and this Congress with the white-hot fury of a thousand suns.

From this source:

The Columbus-based family owned restaurant chain – known for serving small square hamburgers called “sliders” – says a single provision in the bill will eat up roughly 55 percent of its yearly net income after 2014.
Starting that year, the bill levies a $3,000-per-employee penalty on companies whose workers pay more than 9.5 percent of household income in premiums for company-provided insurance.
White Castle, which currently provides insurance to all of its full-time workers and picks up 70 to 89 percent of their premium costs, believes it will likely end up paying those penalties. The financial hit will make it hard for the company to maintain its 421 restaurants, let alone create new jobs, says company spokesman Jamie Richardson. White Castle employs more than 10,000 people nationwide, and more than 1,200 in Ohio.

Leave my sliders alone, assholes. I'll stop eating them after I have a deadly heart attack caused by grease consumption. And you know what? I'LL HAVE DIED HAPPY!!!

And stop trying to kill jobs! Especially for a company that picks up SO MUCH of the cost of their worker's insurance; aren't you leftists supposed to CARE about the working class?

Yeah, right. The all-knowing Nanny State will make us thin one way or another... Whether it means getting rid of sliders, or that we will be unemployed and therefore unable to buy any food.

Go Ahead and Retire Now, Larry.

Larry King has Netanyahu on and asks him a super-relevant question about a viral video showing Israeli soldiers dancing to "Tik Tok." Not surprisingly, Netanyahu hasn't kept up with stupid YouTube stuff and has no idea what Larry is talking about.

Of course, Larry has no idea what Larry is talking about, either.

Here is the video in question, in case you haven't seen it:

For Real From the Past:

From The Daily Wh.at:

This is an actual BP-themed board game produced in the 70s by the Scottish toy company Printabox. It features all the high-speed excitement of oil exploration and pipeline laying, as well as the occasional “hazard card,” which informs the player that a blow-out at their oil rig is responsible for a massive oil slick that will cost a staggering $1 million to clean up.
Fun for the whole family!

Hard-Hearted Hannah: The Vamp of Savannah

This guy is good; check out some of his other stuff.

This is a great old song he covers, 1920's or a bit earlier:

Here's Ella Fitzgerald laying it down:

And the earliest I could find of this song, Belle Baker:

Cool, eh?

Fireworks Safety

I'm so glad I don't work this weekend.
