Today is the beginning of the Hajj, an annual event in which Muslims must trample each other running figure eights around a big black cube which contains a rock inside a bedpan.

In any case, I am of the opinion that Mohammad mandated the trip to Mecca as a tourist revenue scheme, making it mandatory for the 'faithful' and reinforcing it by having them pray towards it five times a day.

But now the 'faithful' Muslim has more to worry about than the cost of getting to Mecca... What happens if he gets the swine flu while he's there?

For many Muslims it's the journey of a lifetime: making the Hajj pilgrimage. Almost 3 million faithful, together, in the city ofMecca, Saudi Arabia. But this year, the Hajj could become an incubator for the H1N1 virus.

At a Muslim community center in Duluth, Georgia, American Muslims pray and prepare for the Hajj. Lateefa Khan is here with her husband, Zakerullah. She has mixed emotions. They are leaving their children behind but say they look forward to the worship.

"It is very exciting. An amazing experience," Khan says. "I am looking forward to worshipping, focusing all my time on worshipping."

Khan will take precautions to avoid H1N1, also known as swine flu, at the Hajj. They'll carry hand sanitizer and will be "frequently washing our hands, trying to stay as clean as possible."

The Khans, along with a number of people at the center who are going on the Hajj, also are getting H1N1 inoculations.

Dr. Asif Saberi gives them a short lecture on how to prepare and encourages everyone to have their shots at least seven days before traveling. He says the Saudi government is doing a lot to protect pilgrims, but "the magnitude of the problem is the magnitude of the numbers of people who attend the Hajj."

When it comes to using hand sanitizer and wearing masks, Saberi says he encounters confusion about religious dictates and flu prevention. According to Muslim beliefs, for example, men in a state of pilgrimage should not wear any stitched items or touch alcohol. So what about wearing face masks or using alcohol-based sanitizers?

Now there's a pickle, eh?

I think it's hilarious that Muslims are getting swine flue vaccines so they can go to Hajj. I wonder if the pilgrimage makes up for that, or do they have to kill a few extra infidels or Jews to make up for that one?

Mary Landrieu (D-La.), one of the 60 votes needed to keep the legislation alive. The wavering lawmaker was offered a sweetener: at least $100 million in extra federal money for her home state.

And so it came to pass that Landrieu walked onto the Senate floor midafternoon Saturday to announce her aye vote -- and to trumpet the financial "fix" she had arranged for Louisiana. "I am not going to be defensive," she declared. "And it's not a $100 million fix. It's a $300 million fix."

How does it feel to be a whore, Landrieu? And an arrogant one, at that.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Alaska Republican, said the bill weighs more than 20 pounds.

The bill contains the word "tax" 511 times and includes 18 tax hikes, according to Americans for Tax Reform, a conservative lobbying group. It uses the word "require" more than 1,000 times and the word "shall" more than 3,500 times, and talks about studies required by the bill 150 times.

"You only have print on one side, which isn't even the way we print them up around here. I've had mine printed up on both sides, so I use both sides of the paper. So they've made an attempt here to make it look a lot higher than it is," he said.

When the official version is printed, Mr. Udall said, the type will be much smaller and the bill will amount to "an average-size book."

Seriously? Well, I guess that if you're screwing us in a smaller font it's not so bad.

I hate these people, and I hate what they're doing to us. How dare they tell me that I have to buy anything or get fined or jailed! How dare they spend my grandchildren into debt! Where the fuck is that in the Constitution?!?

They don't listen when we have tea parties, town hall meetings, when we shut down their phone lines and fill their inboxes. I truly fear this country must be taken back by force, and I fear even more that most people haven't the balls to do it.

The news today has got me down.

First, we have the Senate doing the preliminary voting on a Saturday night under the cover of darkness over a bill that will give the government control of 1/6 of the U.S. economy and kill it, not to mention take away our freedom.

They may as well chant "Death to America" while voting.

Next, we have pedophiles and government ruining Christmas.

Then, parents and brother who must be beyond grief.

Finally, we have a news story about a "mentally ill" teenager.

I say put a bullet in her and be done with it. And yes, that is merciful because she deserves far worse.

I can't take it, so I'm going on a mental staycation.

How low will the new American president go for the world's royalty?

This photo will get Democrat President Obama a lot of approving nods in Japan this weekend, especially among the older generation of Japanese who still pay attention to the royal family living in its downtown castle. Very low bows like this are a sign of great respect and deference to a superior.

Declaring success in border security and immigration enforcement, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Friday that the federal government has done its work and now it's time for Congress to pass a broad bill to legalize illegal immigrants.

Her speech signals President Obama will make good on his promise to push Congress to pass an immigration bill next year - adding yet another hot-button issue to an already long and contentious list.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do, Dems. Please guarantee your ousting in November!

Ms. Napolitano said members of Congress and voters who balked at an immigration bill two years ago, fearing a repeat of the 1986 amnesty that only made the problem worse, can be assured this time is different. She said in those two years, the flow of illegal immigrants across the border has dropped dramatically and the government is doing more to catch fugitive aliens inside the U.S.

Gee, that couldn't be because the economy is in the crapper. No, it MUST that suddenly leftists have decided to stop illegal immigration. LOL! Just when you think the left couldn't get any more absurd, they give us another one!

"The security of the southwest border has been transformed from where it was in 2007," she said in a speech to the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank. "The federal government has dedicated unprecedented resources to the Mexican border in terms of manpower, technology and infrastructure - and it's made a real difference."

But Republicans said her declaration of victory on border security was premature.

"How can they claim that enforcement is 'done' when there are more than 400 open miles of border with Mexico, hundreds of thousands of criminal and fugitive aliens and millions of illegal immigrants taking American jobs?" said Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee.

How indeed. Sheesh. As Beamish would say, it's a genetic predisposition for leftists to prove that they are imbeciles.

The "Religion of Peace" Strikes Ft. Hood

I am saddened and angered beyond all measure by the attack on Ft. Hood yesterday. When this began to break, I was in the car with my husband, listening to the radio.

Before the name of the shooter was even released, the MSM reported the FBI was telling everyone that this was not an act of terrorism.

Dave and I looked at each other and said "bullshit" simultaneously.

FORT HOOD, Texas – The base commander at Fort Hood says soldiers who witnessed a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at the Texas post.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone told NBC's "Today" show on Friday that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday that also left 30 people wounded.

Military officials say they are still piecing together what may have pushed Hasan, an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress, to turn on his comrades.

Cone says Hasan was not known to be a threat or risk.

Hasan was shot four times during the rampage. Cone says he is hospitalized in stable condition and that military officials will interrogate him as soon as possible.

What pushed him? My guess would be Islam.

The gunfire broke out around 1:30 p.m. at the Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening. Nearby, some soldiers were readying to head into a graduation ceremony for troops and families who had recently earned degrees.

Pastor Greg Schannep had just parked his car along the side of the theater and was about to head into the ceremony when a man in uniform approached him.

"Sir, they are opening fire over there!" the man told him. At first, he thought it was a training exercise — then heard three volleys and saw people running. As the man who warned him about the shots ran away, he could see the man's back was bloodied from a wound.

Schannep said police and medical and other emergency personnel were on the scene in an instant, telling people to get inside the theater. The post went into lockdown while a search began for a suspect and emergency workers began trying to treat the wounded. Some soldiers rushed to treat their injured colleagues by ripping their uniforms into makeshift bandages to treat their wounds.

Fort Hood Lt. Gen. Bob Cone praised the soldiers for their quick reaction.

"God bless these soldiers," Cone said. "As horrible as this was it could have been worse."

Video from the scene showed police patrolling the area with handguns and rifles, ducking behind buildings for cover. Sirens could be heard wailing while a woman's voice on a public-address system urged people to take cover. Schools on the base went into lockdown, and family members trying to find out what was happening inside found cell phone lines jammed or busy.

"I was confused and just shocked," said Spc. Jerry Richard, 27, who works at the center but was not on duty during the shooting. "Overseas you are ready for it. But here you can't even defend yourself."

What pisses me off the most about this is that on a base of so many soldiers this terrorist was able to kill so many. I cannot believe that our military does require on duty soldiers to carry at least a service pistol! He should have been ventilated immediately.

That civilian police had to called in? WTF?!?

Obama should be ashamed that such an attack could take place on major military instillation, and under his watch as Commander-in-Chief.

Worse though, Obama won't do a damned thing about this. Not one damned thing, other than looking really somber in front of a row of cameras. It'll be written off as just another 'isolated incident' in a climate where we are increasingly seeing terrorist acts and honor killings on our own soil. There was an 'honor killing' reported earlier this very week because the daughter of a Muslim had become 'too westernized.'

Now we come to find out that this scumbag was posting praise of homicide bombers as little as six months ago, likening them to a soldier who throws himself on a grenade to save his men.
