Go Bengals!

Today is the big day!

The Cincinnati Bengals have miraculously advanced to the playoffs! This, with a rookie quarterback and wide receiver, too!

I've often said that being a Bengals fan is like having battered wife syndrome! No matter how awful the team is, they say they'll get better, and we keep going back... 'Cause this time, it's different, baby. We promise.

Could this time be for real? The last time the Bengals made it all the way to the "Big Game" I was very little and vaguely remember there was a blizzard or at least a lot of snow falling, we had glass pop bottles icing in the freezer and my mother made stovetop popcorn and let my little bro and I stay up late. I have no recollection of who they were playing or if they won. I could look it up, but as my previous posts states, I'm just way too lazy right now.

If things go wrong, I'll be crying into my salsa later tonight. Spicy, spicy salsa. Then comes the crash diet. My Bengals shirt is getting snug, seriously.

If things go right, there will be Pizza Rolls for everyone, on the house!

Are you the babe in the photo? Your team has been to two Super Bowls I can remember. Sorry, my team the 49ers beat them both times.

that's our Brooke, Odie!

(Brooke, I had a blouse on yesterday which used to fit a little looser before CHristmas, too...well, I've uncharacteristically been eating every sweet or starchy thing within a mile, so why not?!)

GO BENGALS (who are they playing?!)
And when?

Odie, that is me in my 'who dey' shirt. :)

At least you're not a Steelers or Raiders fan. Heh.

Z: Potatoes. Lots and lots of 'em. In fact, Dave is making potato soup for dinner tonight.

The Bengals are playing the Texans, RIGHT NOW. :) So far, it's a tie but we just missed a field goal and it wasn't that far. Ugh.

Jeff: Email me if you want a pizza roll. ;)

(Joke source is here.) NSFW. DO watch one!

I was in Cincinnati during that game. I knew Dave Lapham the Bengals offensive lineman.

I remember being amused at what you folks considered a blizzard.

Meanwhile, back in sports city USA the man's name is Tom Brady though I think he Bruins will be the champions this year.

Lap... Heh. He's still on 700 WLW from time to time. Boomer was the star when I was small, as well as Munoz.

Ducky, most Cincinnatians act as if death has rained down from above if the weather sends so much as a thunderstorm. You should try driving around here when even a dusting of snow occurs. If you're an adrenaline junkie, anyway!

I kid you not, for less than three inches of snow you cannot find a loaf of bread or gallon of milk in the stores, as if we will never see another grocery truck.

It's a tri-state 'thang.'

As for the game... I don't want to talk about it. Unless you want to talk about why the hell Marvin Lewis is still employed and what you think his chances are of deplaning without being ridden out on a rail.

I was happy to hear the other day that my Rams (finally) fired Coach Spaghettio.

Man what a fail they've been on hiring coaches after backstabbing Martz.

Karma, I guess.

Congrats on dem dirty Bengals!

I've always called them the "dirty Bengals." Affectionately, of course.

I've used the "battered wife" metaphor for Chiefs fans like myself, especially durning the 90s they'd make it to the play-offs every year then lose in the first round every year
