I was disappointed to what Jackson did the classic storyline. The into to the story to develop the characters was too long and plodding. Kong and the T. Rex fighting while suspended from vines over the chasm, was just over the top. It was physically unbelievable. The special effects were fantastic. If only they had stuck with the 1933 story format a bit closer.

Another case in point "The Day the Earth Stood Still" Gort the robot scared the crap out of me as a kind. Bernard Herrman's musical score was sheer genius and still rates as one of the creepiest movie scores ever. But the plot line was unrecognizable and it fell to to the old: "Bad aliens invade Earth to take over." One of things about the 1951 version that made it special was that the humans were the bad guys. Crap, they didn't even work in the line "Gort, Klaatu nikto barada" which is part of the national lexicon. And Keanu Reeves to Michael Rinne's role? That's like having Wesley Snipes do a role for which James Earl Jones is famous. Ugh!

Now they've gone and done this remake of Tron and True Grit. I'm scared. Very scared.Alligatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03764752508206031685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1643953500851342983.post-78772523709574107522010-12-08T18:09:43.310-05:002010-12-08T18:09:43.310-05:00I don't know if I want to go see this or not. ...I don't know if I want to go see this or not.
