D.C. To Get Senate Seat?

Because apparently the left can do whatever the hell they want now that they control Congress and they have anointed the Lawrd Barack Hussein Obama as the godhead of America.

That pesky little Constitution is so outmoded.

Notice the date on the story above. Why haven't we heard about this from the MSM... (She said, sarcastically.)

Blog Burst Tuesday: Better Late Than Never

In 1970 a KGB operative from the USSR, an expert in Indian culture and languages, found himself disgusted with the Soviet system and made his way to the West. His migration was at great personal risk, but he had decided he must be free and so he defected to the United States.

In 1984, G. Edward Griffin conducted an indepth interview of the ex-KGB operative, Yuri Bezmenov, which was essentially a study of comparison and contrast between the United States and the USSR. A portion of that interview is in the video below. It's important, as you watch this video, to remember that this interview is from 1984 - amazing how no one heeded his warnings and we are so much further down the path to total communism/socialism than we were then.

In 1984, Mr. Griffin billed Mr. Bezmenov as "one of the world’s outstanding experts on the subject of Soviet propaganda and disinformation and active measures." And while I've been unable to find anything on or from Mr. Bezmenov within the past few years - IF he is still alive, I have to believe that this moniker would still stand.

In November of last year, Useless Dissident transcribed a different part of this same interview. It's a great read that gives you a little bit of Yuri's background and where he's coming from in making the statements he makes in the above mentioned interview.

Very early in that interview - remember this was 25 years ago - Mr. Griffin put forth the following question:

"In this country, at the university level primarily, we read and hear that the Soviet system is different from ours, but not that different. And that there is a convergence developing between all of the systems of the world, and that really it doesn’t make an awful lot of difference what system you live under because you have corruption and dishonesty and tyranny and all that sort of thing. From your personal experience, what is the difference between life under Communism and life in the United States?"

It's clear that, although few of us realized it at the time, we were already well down the path to the one world 'convergence', ne collectivism, that Mr. Griffin mentions in his question. And today we're running down that road with the blessing of a good percentage of the [uninformed] population.

It's obvious that we never did heed bezmenov's recommendations for the proper, America-appreciating education of our youth and our citizens - So is it now too late for the U.S.?

What of the "force" he speaks of? Obama has been in office less than 30 days and we are further down the road to complete socialism than any could have thought would be possible after 30 months.

The constitution is worse than, as Thomas Jefferson warned, a 'mere thing of wax' in the hands of the Judiciary - It is now nothing more than a wad of trash in the hands of the most horrible Congress in the history of our country. The graceless bunglers making up this current Congress is working hard to reduce our country to a country of collectivism.

And if we don't stop it now, it will be too late.

Future King... Did We Ever Doubt It?

My five-year-old son told me today that when he grows up he will get a job as a king and buy a castle behind Indianapolis. He will also have a baby but he's not sure if it will be a boy or a girl. He will be naming it Car-Car, though.

I don't know where he comes up with this stuff... LOL!

As long as he doesn't start building these in his free time, I think we'll be OK:

Chimpy.

Wasn't that what all the leftists liked to call President Bush?

By now you've surely all seen the Post cartoon depicting Travis the chimpanzee:

Well, Al Sharpton is still outraged and will not accept the apology the Post shouldn't have given in the first place to race hustlers who fabricate insults out of every little thing.

(But let's not point out the hypocrisy of Al's past... Tawana Brawley, or the time he called Jews "diamond merchants"...That wasn't racism like this cartoon is...)

To further assuage Sharpton's umbrage, we have Treacher's list of ten reasons why the cartoon was not a racist attack against Obama:

TOP 10 REASONS PRESIDENT BARACK H. OBAMA IS NOTHING LIKE TRAVIS THE CHIMP

10. Travis understood TurboTax
9. Obama somewhat less likely to attack Biden
8. Travis never lied
7. Obama's smile not quite as genuine
6. Travis could get through entire day without teleprompter
5. Obama takes more long-term approach to destroying people's lives
4. Might actually be possible to get copies of Travis's medical records
3. Obama much better at taking orders from trainer, David Axelrod
2. Travis really didn't befriend William Ayers
1. Obama only talks your ear off

Just a random thought:

Why is it that the same Dems who said, "We can't afford this war" think we can afford a spending bill that costs far more than the entire war?

Hmm...

Open Thread.

I'm in a blogging funk. I have no idea what I want to post about.

So, I'm setting out the chips, filling the cooler with drinks and inviting all my friends to come on over for an open thread...

Any subject is fair game. Go!

Spendulus Vote Today:

But don't worry, serfs. This bill is going to save you all.

Obama said so.

Dhimmitude Pizza

A Domino's Pizza in England is becoming completely halal to cater to Muslims. If you want a pepperoni pizza, you'll have to get it somewhere else, you disgusting infidel.

From this source:

The takeaway has told customers in the mixed-race area of Hall Green, Birmingham, that if they want ham or pork on their pizza they will have to go elsewhere.

Chris Yates, 29, a hospital worker living in Moseley, Birmingham, said he was told he couldn't have a 'Meteor' pizza, topped with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, ground beef and smoky bacon, when he called up at the weekend.

He said: "It's a disgrace, I can appreciate them having it as an option but to have it completely halal is just not on," he fumed.

"I'm all for racial and religious tolerance but if anything this is intolerant to my beliefs and discriminatory against me.

------------------

Masood Khawaja, President of the Halal Food Authority, said: "It's good news for Muslims, with changing pallets, who want a bit of variety in their diet. This is only the beginning and we are delighted that Domino's has participating in this trend."

So Muslims can't order a cheese pizza, or a veggie pizza?

Of course not. Everyone must bend to accommodate them!

Change? Hardly.

Did anyone listen to the latest Prime Time interruption from Obama last night? I sure didn't hear much of that "hope" he kept promising us.

So with words like "catastrophic", "the lost decade" and only the Federal gov't can "jolt the economy back to life," I find myself cynically wondering where exactly the MSM is on this. I recall that in the aftermath of 9-11, they and the Dems wailed incessantly about Bush's "fear mongering" when he was trying to explain how we would deal with terrorism.

Hat tip to TJ for the video.

Charlie Daniels nails it again with a little thing which is nonexistent in Washington: Common sense.

Now here's some change that you could take to the bank:

Cowboy Logic and the Economy

Since I use a lot of what I call cowboy logic, I feel obliged to explain what the term means once in a while, so here goes.

Two and two is always four, water never runs uphill and if there's smoke there's fire somewhere. Basically, it's just common sense as I see it and can be applied to most situations.

For instance, do the players in Washington really want to fix the economy or are they only interested in growing government's control over our lives and the proliferation of power for themselves and their political parties?

Cowboy logic suggests the latter since the money they're throwing around will have very little lasting effect on the economy while it will plunge this nation into catastrophic debt.

Now I am not an economist and I have no university degrees, but to me it's plain what should be done to reboot the economy.

1) Cut the corporate taxes, let companies make money. What's wrong with that? They have to make a product or provide a service and they can't do that without employees and that equals jobs.

That way the government would be releasing billions of dollars into the economy immediately, without having to borrow a trillion dollars. There would be no capital outlay from the public coffers and the tax base would start reaping the benefits right away.

2) The only way out of recession is to create jobs in the private sector. New government jobs would be counterproductive to the economy, only expanding the already bloated and largely unnecessary national debt.

3) Do not give billions of dollars to companies that will eventually go broke anyway. If their obligations were undoable, as painful as it would be, it would be better to let them fail now. That way maybe they could reorganize and prosper.

5) Suspend the personal income tax for a year. Put money in ordinary citizen's pockets because they'll spend it on TV's and cars and shoes and barbeque and that's what makes the business world go around.

6) Shrink government, there is too much repetition in government, too much political patronage. The government does not require production and efficiency and has so many rules and regulations that it's almost impossible to fire an unproductive person.

7) Institute a flat tax, a simple one-page form that tells you what percentage of the dollars you earn have to go to the government. Do away with the internal revenue service, which is an inefficient, overstaffed dinosaur, which could be cut by probably 50% or more by a flat tax.

Give us a simple tax form, what "We The People" can understand and fill out for ourselves.

8) Do not allow cost overruns on government contracts. Keep a portion of the price until the job is finished, on time and on budget. If it is not, withhold the money and pay it to some other company to finish the project.

9) Deport illegal aliens period.

10) Pass laws that would allow the police departments and other law enforcement agencies to take the gloves off. What's happen now is like taking a knife to a gunfight. They need laws that allow them to answer violence with greater violence.

It sickens me to hear somebody say that we can't clean up the drug problem in America. The truth is that we just don't clean it up. It could be handled if our police departments could arrest somebody without feeling that the ACLU was looking over their shoulders.

And no cherry pickers, I'm not talking about allowing police brutality. I'm talking about removing the silly technicalities from the law, the ones that allow criminals to walk free.

Cleaning up crime would do wonders for the economy.

11) Do away with the professional influence peddlers known as lobbyists. They are one of the most corrupting factors in Washington and state capitols.

Lobbying should be done by ordinary citizens who take time away from their jobs to come to Washington and lobby their representatives when an issue comes up they feel strongly about.

Professional lobbyists clog the halls of Congress and represent special interests. The ordinary citizen cannot afford a lobbyist to influence the Congress for them, but the special interests can, and believe me, they do.

12) Completely ban personal earmarks. Congress and Senate are a sneaky bunch. They load down a bill that is needed with fatback that is not needed. If earmarks and porky amendments were completely done away with it would save the American public billions of dollars a year.

13) Institute term limits. Our forefathers never meant to have professional politicians, never meant to allow opportunistic hacks to stay in power for 30 years.

Our system was meant to have somebody serve a few years and go home and let somebody fresh off the streets be elected, somebody who knows what's happening now.

In my humble opinion, congressmen and senators should be limited to eight years. The president can only serve eight years, why should congressmen and senators stay longer?

It would do away with a lot of the corruption and allow some new ideas to see the light. Congress is stuck in a rut. It is a politically incestuous old boy's club who protect each other no matter what, and have lost sight of what they're supposed to be doing.

They're out of date, out of touch and out of money and should be out of office.

Is this cowboy logic approach simple? Yes.

Would it work? Well it wouldn't solve all our problems, but it would be a start…a danged good start.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops

God Bless America

Charlie Daniels

RFK Squeals Like a Pig

Please take a few minutes and watch the video below:

"Large-scale hog producers are a greater threat to the United States and U.S. democracy than Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network."

Unbelievable.  This is the kind of lunacy we have coming out of the left.

I'll take a pig fart over airplanes slamming into the WTC or a suicide bomber any day, RFK, you raving lunatic!

Rough Day

As I mentioned in the comments of the previous post, our three-year-old has had a high fever and vomiting viral infection,

Today was just as bad, and Genna was clearly dehydrated.

Because her former pediatrician is this scumbag, we are without a doctor for her until at least the end of this month, so I bundled her up and took her to the local ER.

They got some fluids in her and found out that she also has a bladder infection.

With the prescription of some anti-nausea meds and antibiotics, I hope that she'll be her old self soon.

Time and children's health permitting, I'll make 'the rounds' tomorrow.

Until then, have a good one!

Global Warming On My Porch:

After the big snow and ice storm that blew through last week, the temps warmed just enough to melt about half the fallout, leaving a layer of hardened ice/snow mix.

Today, another eight to ten (estimated, I haven't check official numbers) inches fell on top of what was left of that.  I drove home from in a level two snow advisory. Three is the highest, when anyone but emergency personnel are subject to arrest.

It took me three times as long to get home due to hesitant, unskilled drivers. Folks in the Ohio Valley just cannot handle snow. 'Nuff said.

Here is a pic from my front porch. Those are about two and one half feet high (or so) Rhododendron bushes. Of course, these photos do not touch the skill of Pinky's photography! :)

Here is one from my back porch; you can see our chairs and fire bowl, and of course, the trench left by our Beagle mix and the tracks from our Great Dane. Believe me, they did not want to go out.

The kids do!

Thanks be to Him (and I'm not talking about Obama) that our power is still, as of now, on.

Political Stupidity Roundup Post:

Another honest mistake on the heels of the Geitner scandal? What are the odds?

WASHINGTON Tom Daschle apologized Monday to the Senate panel that will decide whether he becomes Health and Human Services secretary, saying he was "deeply embarrassed and disappointed" about his failure to pay more than $120,000 in taxes.

Nice. I'm going to claim to be a Democrat and just stop paying my taxes. Why not?

These hypocrites think they're too damned important to have to follow the laws they impose upon us.  They rob us blind and laugh about it until they get caught. Then, its a few "Oops, sorry about thats" and it's back to business as usual.

Next on the roundup is a bit of global warming lunacy:

COUPLES who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment, the government’s (England) green adviser has warned.

Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission, says curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population.

A report by the commission, to be published next month, will say that governments must reduce population growth through better family planning.

Oh, really? Do you mean the kind of state enforced 'family planning' that China employs? If a woman gets pregnant a third time, will she be forced to have an abortion, and then be sterilized while strapped to a table?

Porritt, a former chairman of the Green party, says the government must improve family planning, even if it means shifting money from curing illness to increasing contraception and abortion.

Bullshit to English: The disabled and the elderly will go untreated and die while abortions are freely given.

I wonder if the Muslim population in England would go for this sort of thing? I'd be willing to bet that they'd get an exception for 'religious and cultural' reasons.

Finally, another example of "do as I say and not as I do" from The One:

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama, keeping a campaign pledge, signed a law Thursday to make it easier to sue employers for pay discrimination.

In a ceremony in the East Room of the White House flanked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden, Obama spoke as Lilly Ledbetter – a former Goodyear Tire manager from Alabama, whose case inspired the new law – stood beside him.

“While this bill bears her name, Lilly knows this story isn’t just about her,” Obama said. “It is a story of women across this country still earning just 78 cents for every $1 men earn, women of color even less, which means that today in the year 2009, countless women are still losing thousands of dollars in salary, income, and retirement savings over the course of a lifetime.”

Women who worked on Obama’s Senate staff last year, however, were themselves paid on average 78 cents for every dollar a man was paid, according to data last year from the Report of the Secretary of the Senate.

Another "honest mistake," I'm sure...

SuperBowl with the Kids.

It's fourth quarter, 1:02 to go, and a time out is called.

I let my seven-year old stay up, and she just said, "Time out; I'm going to the bathroom."

I say, "You're so funny!"

She says, "What? I've been waiting!"

We have a super-fan in training. LOL!
